Five for Friday Author Lyssa Layne

What was your hardest book to write?

I would have to say Baby, Maybe. The characters are based off two of my friends who have been struggling to have a baby for over a decade. The story is pretty much my story through IVF and becoming a mother and the prologue was an actual scene of my daughter and I when I was going through my divorce. This story hit home on so many levels, so, while the research was easy, it was tough to write through tears.

You’re stranded on an island, which of your characters would you choose to come to life and go with you? Why?

Hmm… I love all of my characters but I’d have to say Laurel from Another At Bat. She and I are one of a kind and I think we’d have a pretty good time stressin’ together and cussing up a storm.

Baseball hands down! Umm… have you read Over the Fence, my series of baseball books???

What sports team might inspire you to paint your face their team colors?

I think anyone that knows me would know the answer is the St. Louis Cardinals!

What book changed your life?

I’d have to say my very first book, Love is a Fire. I had no clue what I was getting into and how much my life would change from simply publishing a book. I have met so many cool people, a few bad (but the good FAR outweigh the bad), I’ve traveled a lot, writing a book led to my divorce (it’s all good, I swear). So, yeah, Love is a Fire changed my life a LOT!

Lyssa Layne is first, and foremost, the proud momma to her precious daughter, AR. In
addition to working full-time and being a mommy to AR, she is also an avid St. Louis Cardinals
fan, a runner, blogger, and an infertility survivor.
Having watched one too many medical dramas and being inspired by author Rachelle
Ayala, who introduced her to the world of indie writing, Lyssa decided to try her hand at writing a
romance story. Her attempt turned into the Burning Lovesick
